When parts of Singapore were under two feet of water

Flash floods and BBQs in Singapore

Seems to be a regular occurrence over here, although I would suspect that the vast amount of building work doesn't help matters by diverting the natural flow of water. However, it's still not as bad as many countries and when a country has this much rain, some flooding is inevitable. Isn't it? Still makes a lot of people 'enraged' though! Those 'Stompers' just love to get angry about it!
Meanwhile, chez Chapman, we had a very nice afternoon whiling away the soggy day with some friends, a BBQ and beers. An Australian chef turned up to cook (well, he seemed to reckon he was) and we even enjoyed a star turn by a singing granddad and his guitar. Kids loved it (and so did most of the parents). The wheels on the bus surely do go round and round. That's the way to do it!

I'm pretty sure Australians, Brazilians, Sri Lankans, Pakistanis etc would be pretty dismissive of this! If you follow the Twitter feeds some people think it amounts to a flood, other to 'just a big puddle'. Make your minds up! It's wet, but it ain't that wet!

Thunderbolts and lightning.....

very, very frightening meeeee (to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen). Well, not me, but it scares the kids and we've had a real doozy this afternoon. Some quality forked lightening and thunder to make your ears bleed or wake up the kids. Both of which take some doing. Started about midday and hasn't finished rumbling away to itself at time of posting some two hours later. I don't tend to blog much about the weather because it's pretty standard fair. Sunny with thunderstorms.... every day. Before I came out here and I had a weather widget on my phone for Singapore, I thought it just wasn't updating properly. 31C, Sunny with expected thunderstorms.... every day. But, now I'm here, that's exactly what happens. Granted you get the odd day that is a roaster with no cloud or rain, but they are few and far between. Mostly it's quite predictable. Currently I've got the boy asleep on the sofa as he needed a cuddle to protect from the thunder. It was really crashing in! Goodness knows how Z has slept through it! And here it comes again. I thought it had subsided but it was just gathering itself for another burst. Great to listen to!

Wet, wet, wet

And just to temper that last blog update, lest we forget that it does get very wet in other ways in Singapore. That is a lot of rain by anyone's standards!
